Crafting

“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” Genesis 1:1

“All things were made by him;

and without him was not any thing made that was made. John 1:3

This was the beginning of God’s creation.  When you continue to read the first chapter of Genesis you see the detailed account of the creation.  God alone has the power to create any thing he choose.

We humans on the other hand cannot create something out of nothing as God did.  However, with a creative mind and a few supplies we can craft all kinds of things.  Quilts, furniture, flower arrangements.  The list goes on and on and on.

Not all people are as creative as others.  I have seen some beautiful quilts made from scraps.  Even cooking can be a talent.  I have an Aunt that once told me if she had a meat, potatoes and flour she could put together a meal in no time at all.   Cooking can be learned with some practice.  It may just be my thinking but I think that God placed a little creativity in all of us. 

          My parents can look at an old dilapidated piece of furniture and see the finished product in their minds.  I once saw them take an old broken down table and put it back together and it looked better than when it was new. 

Our talents for crafting are only as limited as our imagination.

Just recently I have been trying to find a hobby that could travel with me so I went to YouTube.  You can find everything and anything on YouTube! (BEWARE) I came across a video on crafting with cabochons (Cabochon definition: a smooth domed gem, polished but unfaceted ).  Or in lay terms, a flat marble.   I have found it to be a great outlet I can enjoy at home or on the road.  The supplies needed can be carried quite compactly which is great because when traveling in an RV everything has to be compact. 

This may not seem like much too some people but I find it relaxing and can have something useful in the end. (Ex. Magnets, rings, pins and pendants)  While working on these I began to ponder how God in his infinite wisdom fashioned the world with only his spoken Word.  How amazing!!  For the evolutionist it must seem preposterous, but for a believer it seems only natural that God could create such a complex world out of nothing.  The Seasons, the human body, the stars and planets.  Don’t you think it is just awesome how all these things work.

That’s His business, taking nothing and making something.  I was nothing when He found me, now I am the daughter of a King.

Hallelujah!! Praise His Name!
