The Shekinah Glory of God

Some years ago Randy and I attended an evangelism conference.  They always had a large number in attendance so we would arrive early to get a seat close to the front.  They always had the lights dimmed and would not turn them up until the sessions began.  We usually had a good while to wait for it to start so I would use this time to have my devotion.  After reading my Scripture and Devotional passage I heard some guys across the aisle saying, Let’s get on the altar and have prayer while there are not many people in here.”  You meet so many nice people at these conferences and while we were there I had learned that these guys were seminary students.  When they got on the altar and begin to pray I too bowed for prayer.  As I was sitting there praying with my eyes closed it was as though a bright light was shining on me.  Now I’m thinking, “Is this the Shekinah glory of God shining on me?”  I continue my prayer and as I finished I raised my head to see that someone had turned the light up.  I was a little disappointed that it had not been God’s Shekinah glory shining down.

When the seminary students finished their prayer and they were headed back to their seats I could hear them talking to each other saying, “I thought we had prayed the Shekinah glory down.”  They chuckled and I smiled to myself thinking, “I thought the same thing.”

          Exodus 34:29

“And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses' hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses wist not that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him.”

It is not impossible to think that we could experience such a thing, because with God all things are possible. (Matt. 19:26)  We must expect the impossible because we serve The God of the Impossible.

Although we may not experience the visible Shekinah glory as Moses did we can always experience the Shekinah glory in our hearts if our hearts are stayed on The God of the Impossible.
